Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal Recipes

Yes, I know calling these oatmeal recipes apple pie and pumpkin pie is a lofty claim. But rest assured, they’re delicious and will remind you of their glorious dessert equivalents.

Seriously. Make one of these right now and delight your nasal passages (these smell fantastic when cooking), your taste buds (deliciousness), and your tummy (they’re quite satiating and sure to keep you going).

The only potential downside to these recipes? You’ll want to eat them rapidly because they’re so dang tasty. Get ready to put this apple pie and pumpkin pie oatmeal goodness in your face.

First up …

Apple Pie Oatmeal

Servings: 2

The Goods

  • 2-3 teaspoons butter
  • One apple, cored and diced (I like tart ones best)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Good dash of cinnamon (about half a teaspoon)
  • Sprinkle of salt (optional, but recommended)
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats (not quick cooking)
  • 1 3/4 – 2 cups milk (Depending on how thick you like your oatmeal; I prefer mine thinner so I use 2 cups. Use any type of milk you prefer: cow, almond, soy, coconut)
  • 1/8 – 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (depending on how nutty you like your oatmeal)

How to Create This Deliciousness

Let’s bring this to life.

1) Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat (don’t burn it!).

2) Toss in the apple and cinnamon; cook for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3) Sprinkle in the brown sugar, stir well, and cook for another minute or two.

4) Pour in the milk, bring to a slow boil.

5) Add in the oats, stir well, and simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6) Remove from the heat, cover, and let stand for 2-3 minutes.

7) Pour the tasty goodness into two bowls and top with the chopped nuts.

8) Put it in your face. Enjoy.

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

Servings: 2

The Goods

  • 1 3/4 – 2 cups milk (Depending on how thick you like your oatmeal; I prefer mine thinner so I use 2 cups. Use any type of milk you prefer: cow, almond, soy, coconut)
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats (not quick cooking)
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice*
  • 1 cup pureed pumpkin (not pie filling)
  • 1/8 – 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (depending on how nutty you like your oatmeal)

*Pumpkin Pie Spice

This makes quite a bit so put it in a small container with a label. You’ll use it up quicker than you think.

Mix the following four ingredients together:

  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How to Create This Deliciousness

1) Bring the milk to a slow boil over medium heat.

2) Stir in the oats, pumpkin, and pumpkin pie spice.

3) Simmer on low heat for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4) Remove from the heat, cover, and let stand for 2-3 minutes.
