Sand bags are usually used to stop flood waters, but today I am going to show you how to make your own sand bag that you can use for workouts. This whole process should cost about $30, depending on how heavy you make your sand bag.
You’ll see how to make the sand bag in the following video, but I’ll go ahead and list the required components you will need:
- -Two heavy duty contractor bags
- -Duct tape
- -Duffle bag or something similar
- -Pea gravel (I use pea gravel just in case the bag breaks; it’s easier to clean up than sand)
Next time I will show you some great workouts you can do with your sand bag.
You may be wondering, “Why should I take the time to make my own sand bag“? Well, I like training with sand bags because they add variety, and they are completely different from any other training tool. Second, sand bags are unstable, and move around while you’re training with them; that makes them more challenging so you will be working certain muscles to a greater extent than you would with free weights.
Third, a homemade sand bag is cheap to make and it is travel friendly; a fifty pound sand bag is a lot cheaper than 50 pounds worth of dumbbells. Fourth, sand bag workouts are fun!
Get your sand bag (or bags) made and get ready to experience a whole new way of training. If you have never trained with a sand bag, I highly recommend you take a few minutes to create your own. You won’t be sorry.
I’ll give you some great workouts with your new sand bag later this week. (Update: make sure you try these Sand Bag Workouts).
